Patients eligible to participate in the Detroit ROCS study are African American adults who reside in Metropolitan Detroit (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties) and have received a first primary diagnosis of cancer since January 2013.
Patients who complete the Detroit ROCS survey are asked to nominate a caregiver to participate in the study. Caregivers are asked to complete an annual survey to evaluate social support determinants of patient outcomes.
One thousand patients were recruited to the Detroit ROCS Pilot. Eligible patients were African America or Non-Hispanic White and seen at the Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) in Detroit, MI for a first primary diagnosis of breast, prostate, lung or colorectal cancer diagnosed in the years 2015-2017. Baseline data for 1,000 patients is available. Follow-up data are available for the first 500 pilot cases.
